MOHT received its first visitors from the United States since the start of the pandemic in 2020, from the Cedars-Sinai Health System (CSHS). At the meeting, both MOHT and CSHS cross-shared innovations relating to healthcare delivery in both Singapore and the US.
Now that Singapore borders have reopened, MOHT was pleased to welcome Dr Heitham Hassoun, Vice President & Medical Director; as well as Mr. Benjamin H. Seo, Director of Global Business Development, from Cedars-Sinai Health System (CSHS) on 20 April 2022 to cross-share innovations related to healthcare delivery in Singapore & the US and discuss future partnerships for hospital care redesign.
MOHT and CSHS picked up where matters left off pre-pandemic in November 2019 when a study trip to Cedars-Sinai was planned to learn more about its “Healing-at-Home” implementation for MOHT’s own “Mobile Inpatient Care at Home” (MIC@Home) programme. The trip was eventually cancelled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
During the short visit, there was discussion about the broad healthcare transformation agenda in Singapore, and changes in hospital care models in Singapore. The MIC@Home program was a topic discussed where MOHT would take the opportunity to learn the experiences of Cedars-Sinai in running alternative inpatient care programmes, including potentially clinical protocols & workflow, evaluation and learnings. MOHT looks forward to collaborating further with Cedars-Sinai, in healthcare innovations and research.
MOHT’s MIC@Home initiative will be launched later this year as part of a MOH Sandbox in partnership with hospitals from all three clusters and private partners. The initial Sandbox implementation will focus on General Medicine conditions and elective post-operation care that would otherwise require physical inpatient hospitalisation.
