Towards Future Healthcare

Commemorating MOHT's 3rd Anniversary

Message from the Executive Director

MOHT has come a long way in a relatively short time. When we started in 2018, we were tasked to look closely at the fundamental challenges facing our healthcare system, and find solutions to these challenges leveraging advances in data science, digital technologies and medicine.

We forged partnerships with both public and private organisations while maintaining strong links to the Ministry of Health and other government bodies.

With our partners, we launched initiatives such as the Integrated General Hospital model of care, the Primary-Tech Enhanced Care system for select chronic diseases, toolkits for communities and government bodies to promote healthier living, and online resources for mental wellness. Most recently we deployed many solutions in the national fight against COVID-19. Through these initiatives, we also helped build the enablers necessary for at scale adoption.

I would like to thank everyone who has been part of the MOHT journey so far, and we look forward to working together to make a transformative impact on our healthcare system.

Fighting COVID-19

Rapid solutioning to combat the pandemic

At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, MOHT teams quickly refocused efforts to develop solutions to aid healthcare teams and the public. Solutions included an easy-to-use Symptom Checkerdesign sprints to ideate community-led initiatives, and digital tools to enhance patient workflows for care teams.

2021 Programme Updates

Future Primary Care

The FPC programme aims to enable patients to effectively self-manage their chronic diseases in partnership with their primary care providers. This involves the development of a national telehealth platform and the incorporation of technologies that enable effective and sustainable home management.

Integrated General Hospital

The IGH programme aims to enable patients at the intersection of the hospital and the community to receive holistic and coordinated care. The programme’s portfolio comprises care solutions and digital solutions.

Integrated Health Promotion

The InHealth programme focuses on novel strategies to improve health, promote and sustain behaviour change and prevent the onset and progression of disease amongst the population.

Data, Science & Technology

The DST team uses data science, analytics and AI, together with clinical and core teams to develop deployable technologies for our pilots with the view to scale.

Solutions, Technology, Evaluation & Piloting

The STEP team scans and pilots technologies and solutions, with a view to scaling those which are beneficial, cost-effective and can enable care redesign.

Communications, Outreach, Patient Experience & Design

COPED builds on existing strengths in the areas of communications, media, branding and outreach; as well as collaborations with partners to drive community-based, user-centred research to design solutions.

Integrated General Hospital programme

Healthcare transformation is brought about by a series of incremental changes over time. I hope that 10 years later when we look back, we can proudly say that the way health and care are perceived and delivered have fundamentally changed from when the office started in 2018.

While my role primarily deals with care redesign and care model evaluation, I have found myself doing quite a bit of “sales and marketing”! This was not something I had previously anticipated before joining MOHT.

I like MOHT because we are always exploring unchartered waters without a clear/sure-work path to follow. We are accorded the necessary “degrees of freedom” to explore ideas.
